I'm affiliated with Poecilia Netherlands. This is the Dutch national society of livebearers. I'm a board member and a member of the editorial board.
This society has set itself the goal of promoting the keeping of livebearers. And in particular to preserve rare wild species of livebearers for the aquarium scene. Poecilia Netherlands also contributes to projects in Mexico. The main focus is reintroduction by re-releasing captive bred specimens of wild livebearer species in endemic areas where the original populations are endangered or where they are already vanished. But also in the research field, Poecilia Netherlands contributes in a serious way. Poecilia Netherlands supports these projects by Morelia financially.
Dutch national guppy society
Poecilia Netherlands is also the official national guppy society of the Netherlands.
Poecilia Netherlands has also initiated a couple of working groups:
* Guppy working group (includes wild and breeding forms of guppies and endlers, ovoviviparous). This working group is lead by me.
* Poecilia working group (all livebearer species both wild and breeding forms, ovoviviparous and viviparous)
* Xiphophorus working group (all platies and swordtail fish both wild and breeding forms, ovoviviparous)
* Goodeid working group (wild viviparous livebearers known as splitfins)
